Routine of Catastrophe
Colônia is one of the few inhabited impact craters in the world, where an ancient catastrophe has become part of the everyday acoustic landscape. The film brings together field recordings, photographs and video documentation collected on site in the crater in the south of São Paulo, alongside geological data, its sonification and generative scenes. The sounds of people, animals, roads, vegetation and other everyday activities become the starting point for listening to a place shaped by an event that can no longer be heard directly. The narrative moves between the history of the impact, its present-day acoustic environment, and speculative reflections on the future. Through this movement, the film explores how the sound of a catastrophe might persist after millions of years — not as a recording of the original event, but as a changing acoustic trace embedded in the life of the place.
